What’s new?

Here are the features added compared to the previous beta:

Brush Cursor

  • ArtOverflow now displays a brush cursor when moving your stylus over the canvas, allowing you to know in advance which area is going to be modified by your stroke.
  • The brush cursor follows the zoom level of the canvas as well as any size change in the brush settings.
  • This cursor is used both for the brush and eraser tools. The move tool keeps its hand cursor.
  • The cursor is a combination of white and black circle, allowing you to properly see it whatever the color behind.
  • If you use a brush whose size depends on pressure, the brush cursor size covers the area that would be affected is you were drawing at maximum pressure. As such the cursor size does not change based on current pressure.
  • If the brush cursor becomes too big (typically the height of standard displays), a simple cross cursor is used instead.

Brush Size Shortcut

  • You can now use Command + Alt + drag on the canvas to quickly change the brush size.

Canvas Information

  • The title bar of your artwork window now displays the canvas size, zoom level and rotation in degrees.
  • This information is updated live when you zoom or rotate the canvas.

What’s next?

Just a few words on the future of ArtOverflow:

  • Next planned big feature is the transform tool, to allow you to fix proportions on your drawing.
  • On slightly longer term, the 1st stable public release is planned for January 2021! At this point ArtOverflow will be brought to the Mac App Store, still for free at first.
