What’s in?
We’re still very far from the public release so don’t expect too many features yet. Here is what is included in this beta:
General
- Support for opening and saving TIFF, JPEG, PNG, GIF and BMP images
- Support for macOS document Versions (see menu File > Revert To)
- Support for macOS document sharing (see menu File > Share)
- Support for creating canvas up to 16,000 × 16,000 pixels
- The bigger the canvas, the more memory and compute power you’ll need, so unless you have a powerful Mac, 4,000 × 4,000 is a good size to get started.
- We’re interested to know up to which canvas size drawing remains lag-free on your Mac!
- Preservation of the state of the Tools, Settings and Colors panels when you exit and relaunch ArtOverflow
- Preferences to allow drawing with mouse, and to open documents on a specific monitor
- Color management, so that your saved drawings display with the same colors in other apps
Display control
- Support for drawing in fullscreen
- Canvas display control through standard gestures (pan, zoom, rotation) through any multitouch device
- Canvas display control through shortcuts (see menu View)
- Canvas display snapping when:
- Zooming and close to 100%
- Rotating and close to 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°
Tools
- A basic brush and eraser tools, with size and color setting, as well as pressure handling
- Support for unlimited undo/redo of drawing strokes
What’s next?
- Bugfixes and other improvements depending on your feedback
- Support for layers with normal, multiply, overlay, shade and shine blend modes
- Drawing settings per tool instead of global
